Dr. Sarah Hagen first decided she wanted to be a veterinarian when she was 4 years old, and that goal never wavered! She was raised in a military family and spent her childhood moving around the country and the world, usually with an assortment of cats, dogs, hermit crabs, frogs, and tarantulas. Following graduation from an American high school in Brussels, Belgium, she returned to the US to attend Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. While there, she met her husband, Brad, in freshman year General Chemistry. Following her undergraduate degree, Sarah continued to follow her dream and she moved across country to go to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Gators!). After Veterinary School, Sarah completed a one year internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa, Florida. During her internship, she worked one-on-one with veterinary specialists in fields such as Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Critical Care. She also spent much of the year working in the Emergency Room, which she found very rewarding as she helped families during their pet’s most difficult moments.
Although Sarah enjoyed her years in the Sunshine State, the mountains were calling and Sarah decided to move to Colorado. She was so excited to be invited to join the team at Alpine Hospital for Animals!
Sarah currently lives with her husband, Brad, in Broomfield. They have one cat named Carolina who insists on being an only pet. Sarah enjoys cooking, painting, hiking, reading, horseback riding, and hanging out with friends in her free time.
